A beautiful finish starts with preparation

AVRORA liquid wallpaper is easy to apply yourself. Mix the material in advance — while it soaks, you have time to prepare the walls.

Before you begin

Start with the walls

Levelling the wall: a wide putty knife skims filler, with patched chips and holes to the right.

Level the surface

Fill chips and holes, then level and skim the walls. Liquid wallpaper goes on at about 1 mm and won’t hide uneven patches — and an uneven wall uses more material.

Apply quartz primer

Stir the primer thoroughly first, as the quartz particles settle. Its slightly rough surface holds the material, makes application easier and prevents overuse.

Prevent yellow stains

To stop stains showing through the finish, apply one coat of exterior enamel before priming.

You will need

A plastic basin
Clean water
A plastic trowel
Roller and tray for primer
Spray bottle with water
A torch or lamp

Six steps

From dry mix to finished wall

Pour warm water

about 40 °C

Fill a clean plastic basin with the amount of water shown on the label.
Add the mix

one pack at a time

If you are using decorative glitter, add it to the water first, then pour in the dry mix.
Knead by hand

until smooth

Work the mix until no dry lumps remain. It is made from natural components, so bare hands are fine.
Let it soak

6–12 hours

Transfer the mix to the inner bag from the pack or cover the basin tightly. Prime the walls while it soaks.
Mix once more

up to 0.5 l water per pack

Just before applying, combine several batches in the basin and mix them together for an even shade across the wall. If the mix is too thick, add a little water.
Apply to the wall

about 1 mm thick

Start in a corner, holding the plastic trowel at a slight angle. Cover each wall in one go, corner to corner — small differences in thickness even out as it dries.
